St. Francis – Illusion of reality

I bent the brief here. I was asked to look at optical illusions. I guess, in it’s own way it is an illusion of reality to give thing form through shading. Anyway, I thought this class did really well in such a short period of time.

St. Francis – Tonal Drawings

These were produced using charcoal and involved drawing in perspective and learning about tonal shading. I am really impressed with the quality of the work from everyone but could only include these five pictures in this post.

St. Richard’s Primary Project

I really enjoy working in primary schools and especially this warm and welcoming one.

Last year I started this project with a small group of Able and Talented learners in which we tried to use ICT to develop some display work that celebrated life at the school.

We first started by looking at words that described the learners experiences and input them into a website called WORDLE.  This site rearanges the words into interesting combinations and the learners selected settings that they found interesting.

We also took a photograph of the school which was vectorised so that colours could be changed. The learners then spent time arranging the final image with the words and applying a colour scheme.

These are the results:

St John’s Primary School

Every half term I visit a different primary school. This time it was St John’s, a very nice school with excellent learners. The theme I was given to work within was “The World” so over the 3-4 lessons I wanted the learners to try to produce a pieces of work in the style of different continents.

This work represents Asia and Australia. The images of Buddah use a monotype (see Wikipedia) technique and has been built up using three separate colours. The learners had to put the colours on separately making the process complicated. Anyway, I think they did really well.

The Australian work is based on techniques the aborigines (see Wikipedia) pioneered in which a stick is used to place dots on a page.
